Microsoft IE iFrame Bug

from The Sydney Morning Herald comes news of a new bug with IE (suprise su-fucking-prise).

According to the latest information

“This may indicate a more wide-spread attack across Europe. One suggestion is that the advertising servers rather than the sites themselves contain the exploit, which of course means that perhaps hundreds of sites are affected,” it said in an advisory. The vulnerability being exploited was discovered on October 24. The flaw lies in the IFRAME tags of Internet Explorer 6.0 and it affects all Windows platforms except those which have installed service pack 2 for Windows XP.

woops…

Answer to boredom: Hitchhiking ;)

So, as ou can no doubt tell I’m having a slow night tonight. I should be writing a report on the operational issues faced by Independant Power Producers. Instead I’m trawling the web for watever gems I can come across, and one of the best tonight has been the site for the movie The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. So check it out - just whatever you do, don’t press the red button…

just don’t press it…

Microsoft… are they hypocritical?

Microsoft has just been nabbed by slashdot.org for use of pirated software. For a company that has made its CEO the second richest man on earth, you think that they could afford to pay for a few copies of Sound Forge. Instead they have been caught using a hacked version. But does this make MS a hypocritical company. Well, according to an ethics lecture of mine - not if they do not believe that software should not be pirated (that is, you’re not hypocritical if you continuously emphasise the illegality of software piracy whilst not believing in it - that’s just simple deception).

Give it a read here at slashdot.org.
