A Sunday night at Australia’s premier (and possibly oldest standing?)jazz venue The Basement with the charming Miss Throsby was too good an opportunity to pass up on while shooting for The Dwarf. As a pleasant and rather unexpected (well, for me anyhow, apparently it had been billed) surprise Youth Group’s Toby Martin played an acoustic set to warm up the audience at The Basement. Holly Throsby followed to play an intimate gig to a crowd of loving fans with a selection of new and old songs. The crowd included some of Australia’s finest indie-folk musicians as they had come to hear both acts.
It was my first time shooting at The Basement, and was definitely not a bad location. If only the lights could have been a little brighter - but then I think that’d take away from this Sydney landmark.
