Energy 21C - Energy Delivery Solutions for the 21st Century From Sunday the 11th November through to Wednesday the 14th I attended the Energy 21C Conference at Darling Harbour through my work with EnergyAustralia. With the tagline Energy Delivery Solutions for the 21st Century the conference was probably never going to inspire those outside of the industry too much, but the topics covered inside will undoubtedly have the potential to impact anyone connected to mains electricity or gas in Australia, and quite possible the greater Asia-Pacific region. Futsal! Well, this isn't us, but maybe one day... (Photo: muneto murakami The Combat Wombats have reformed after a little over a year of rest, this time to take on the roundball sport of futsal. Played at North Sydney's ANZAC Memorial Club is a local futsal competition, using the Club's astroturf courts rather than wooden indoor or outside asphalt locations. (image: Michael Leunig, The Age) This week The Sydney Morning Herald has run an article commenting on the Australian Federal Government's claimed Aid Budget and the creative accounting being employed to whitewash our minimal assistance through aid despite the massive income streams we currently get (of course, this is completely due to the Federal Government's single handling of the international economy, in addition to the Australian one). The Spirit of Australia General | (2)
The Qantas chairwoman, Margaret Jackson, is a shining example of the modern "Spirit of Australia". Unapologetic, self-serving, and only acts decently when forced.Paul Clarke Kensington I could not have summed up the state of the nation any more eloquently. Thank you Paul Clarke. I only wish things would change. Also, the daily cartoon at the Herald is a classic poke at the federal government's change of name for the new Industrial Relations policy (in spite of it remaining on the statute books as "Work Choices"). Apparently the policy itself isn't bad, it's just the public perception of it is horrid. As is said ...
