Holly Throsby @ The Basement, Circular Quay - 14th September, 2008 A Sunday night at Australia's premier (and possibly oldest standing?)jazz venue The Basement with the charming Miss Throsby was too good an opportunity to pass up on while shooting for The Dwarf. I had heard the name Kate Miller-Heidke somewhere, and when the option to shoot at the Annandale came up I didn't say no. A quick check of her myspace page (thank god people have ditched it in general and now pretty much only the muso's are using it as a cheep way to gain a web presence) I recognised a couple of tracks from the TripleJ set list. Kanye West headlining Good Vibrations and banishing photographers from his midst (well, at least the pit) My first major music festival in Sydney was Good Vibrations held last weekend. Man, what a day. While I had the opportunity to shoot the Bimbadgen Blues Festival in the Hunter during my final weekend as a Novocastrian, Good Vibes was about ten times bigger. Two major stages plus a few smaller ones, big international headliners (the rather pretentious Kanye "no-photographers-in-the-pits-because-I-can't-deal-with-my-own-popularity-but-have-a-mega-ego" West and Cypress Hill in the Roots tent) and plenty of Sydney's finest fluoro+electro loving kiddies made for a massive day.
