Whitley rocks out The Annandale Hotel. Definitely think this is my best shot this year! Proving that an indie-folk singer can be a rock and roll superstar (or at least star) Whitley busted out some intelligent lighting and LED frames. The unfortunate aspect of the show was the fact that the place was so tightly packed that most of us couldn't even try to get in front to take some shots head on :( Not sure how well thought through the lighting design was - it definitely needs some work. Kanye West headlining Good Vibrations and banishing photographers from his midst (well, at least the pit) My first major music festival in Sydney was Good Vibrations held last weekend. Man, what a day. While I had the opportunity to shoot the Bimbadgen Blues Festival in the Hunter during my final weekend as a Novocastrian, Good Vibes was about ten times bigger. Two major stages plus a few smaller ones, big international headliners (the rather pretentious Kanye "no-photographers-in-the-pits-because-I-can't-deal-with-my-own-popularity-but-have-a-mega-ego" West and Cypress Hill in the Roots tent) and plenty of Sydney's finest fluoro+electro loving kiddies made for a massive day. Photography catch up - I'm running a bit late, so sue me. Z-Trip on the decks I bailed part way through a bucks night to shoot the Triple J supported Elements Tour 2007 at the Metro Theatre in the middle of Sydney. I was originally lured to the night by promise of Soup (Zaakir) from US hip-hop outfit Jurassic 5. Unfortunately he wasn't onstage by the time my three (and a little bit thanks to some nice bouncers) were up.
